How EatWave Was Born
In 2007, while running a successful ATM management company, EatWave founders, O’Neil Sawh and Mark Hoyt thought to themselves, “what is the next big thing in automated convenience?” After scouring the marketplace for a new and different concept in automated vending, they discovered that no one was offering a viable solution for delivering fresh, hot food from a vending machine.
So, after several years of development and testing, VENDture LLC was formed and the world’s first simple, reliable hot food vending machine, EatWave was born! The EatWave vending machine was introduced to the market in 2010 at the annual NAMA (National Automatic Merchandising Association) convention in Chicago, where it received critical acclaim and won the Innovation of the Year Award for new vending machinery. The two founders quickly realized that the machine’s patented design not only functioned as an effective hot food vending machine, but also allowed for the dispensing of cold food, snack, and drink items as well, and the world’s first “all-in-one” hot and cold food vending machine was achieved.
This ingenious vending system attracted the attention of Silicon Valley vending/kiosk expert Andrew Preston, who joined the VENDture team as CEO in 2012. Andrew’s experience and accomplishments in the vending kiosk business include DVD Play, Inc. with over 1,300 locations (acquired by NCR/Blockbuster Video) and MinuteKey, a fully automated key making vending machine with over 1,400 kiosks placed in home improvement stores nationwide. The company hopes to prove to the vending world that the EatWave machine is THE vending machine of the future and is actively recruiting both vending operators and location owners to become part of the EatWave vending revolution.
